I waited a LONG time to upgrade to the current version of Wordpress just because I had used the horrible WYSIWYG editor for an online conference I was chairing and didn't know it could be shut off. I never use it now and just stick to doing the HTML myself. Other than the editor, I have no complaints about using Wordpress -- it's been very easy to use.

Hi, David. Pretty impressive debut! Mentioned on Library Stuff and the note from noted library-issues commentator Walt Crawford. Well done!

I was impressed by having my own queries on WordPress answered by the moderator of the forum in which I posted my plea for assistance. The templates are also handsome and, as Walt says, it is easy to set up categories.

I am pleased with WordPress so far. It takes some getting used to compared to Blogger. But things look nicer in it, seems to me.

Looing forward to following your blog and thank you for all the help with Medgrab!!

Oh my, Walt. Thanks so much for your comment and emails. I turned off the WYSIWYG editor and immediately liked WordPress much more.

Many thanks!

It's not the editor. It's the general design and flexibility that make WordPress desirable. The WYSIWYG editor is fairly recent, and I sometimes turn it off anyway. But the rich set of template options, easy-to-edit templates (even for HTML numbskulls like me), incredible set of plugins/extensions, solid support for categories--oh, and, for some of us, the fact that WP by default provides excellent printouts of long entries, which Blogger doesn't do nearly as well.

I think it's a set of tradeoffs. And maybe even a set of personal preferences.
