British MP Falls Foul of Wiki-D Pranksters
Via NexGenLib, an article about an unwise use of a Wiki.
The person who posted the item to NexGenLib did so this way:
Just when you thought a wiki was a great idea…somebody has to come along and deface it. Such can be a somewhat scary thing when you are putting draft policies on the wiki.
While I agree, I feel the need to point out that the flaw here is not with the Wiki model, but by a foolish use of it.
If David Miliband was looking for feedback, he’d have done better to have used a blog model in which the document was made available and a forum was created for comments.
If you use a crescent wrench to drive a nail, you’ll get bad results. There’s nothing wrong with the crescent wrench as a tool, the problem is in using it for a purpose other than what for which it was designed.
