Their importance is implied in the phrase &quot;evidence based medicine&quot; because there&#039;s pretty much no way to compare evidence to prior results without consulting a library, which can be pretty difficult without a librarian.  That&#039;s probably why most medical research is done at Universities and especially ones that have an extensive library system.</description>
